THE Spanish Red Cross has signed a collaboration agreement with the Kovacs Foundation, a Majorcan non profit making organisation, through which they can use the contents of the Back Guide free, with the aim of improving the quality of life of professionals and carers of dependent people.
This project, being carried out at a national level, is part of the agreement which the Red Cross signed with the Spanish Ministry of Labour and Social Welfare for the project Study for the development of services for incapacitated and dependant people and whose main objective is to support professionals and families through information and guidelines.
The information which the Red Cross will offer through the Kovacs Foundation will be especially relevant to this task, given that the thing which carers suffer most is back pain, a pain which affects up to 80 percent of the population at some time in their lives.
The Kovacs Foundation, which is the main Spanish research body in this field, dedicates itself to scientific research, medical help and the promotion of public health, specialising in the field of back pain.
With the aim of preventing and correcting illnesses related to the back, the Foundation had produced the Back Guide which includes text and graphics which explain the best postures to adopt and the best ways to make everyday movements, to reduce the risk of damaging the back.
