MADRID
OVER half the population of Spain is planning to go on holiday this autumn despite the recession, according to travel market watchdog Muchoviaje.com yesterday.

The research showed a clear tendency for people to prefer getaway breaks throughout the year rather than the once traditional long summer break.
Two thirds of those interviewed said they prefer spreading out their holidays over the course of a year, but whilst 47 percent of this figure said they enjoyed being able to take more regular but shorter breaks, 16 percent said they needed to do it that way because it was either the only option that they can afford or because of work commitments.
