THE Council of Majorca will receive a rise to its budget in 2006, which will stand at approximately 278.4 million euros, nearly 17 percent more than was given this year, announced the head of the Economy and Tax department, Miquel Àngel Flaquer. In total the Council of Majorca will manage around 271.9 million euros, whereas the remaining funds will be under the control of the Majorcan Social Services and Sports Institute and the Majorca Equestrian Insititute. The estimated debt for next year is about 20 million euros, to which an additional 115 million euros for 2005 has to be added, said the councillor during the press conference held yesterday. The established budget is realisitic, responsible and brave he added, considering that they give answers to the actual needs in Majorca.
