The Balearic government does appear to be willing to make concessions over the trilingual teaching law but talks broke down yesterday.
The Balearic government and teachers resumed talks yesterday afternoon with the government stating ahead of the meeting that it is willing to reach a compromise over the introduction of the new TIL trilingual teaching law in secondary schools while its plans for primary and infant schools would not be reviewed.
The Balearic Minister for Education, Joana Maria Camps, told teachers’ associations that the government is prepared to postpone the compulsory introduction of the new TIL teaching system in secondary schools this term and let the schools decide on whether they want to go ahead with the plan or wait until next term.
