THE first Fair of free second hand books and magazines to be held in Palma will give away 1'500 books and magazines this week.
This is an initiative from the Youth Information Centre (the CIJ) which is part of the Palma council's Youth and Sports department.
According to council sources, the aim of the Fair is to promote the work of the CIJ, and encourage the exchange of books, the participation of young people and to contribute to the environment through recycling. The Fair is taking place at number 11 in the Calle Ferreria and started yesterday, opeining from 5 to 7pm. It will run all week opening every day from 10am to 2pm and 5 to 7pm, until supplies are exhausted. The only requirement to get a book or magazine is to be between 14 and 35 years old, as the CIJ is aiming the Fair at this age group.
The collaborating entities which donated the material for the Fair are the Coordinator of Municipal Libraries, the network of Municipal Libraries, the Casals d'Infants y Joves network, in additon to private donations.
