BALEARIC leader Jaume Matas called for a reinvention of tourism in the Balearics, which would allow the islands to beat competitors when it came to satisfying new demands, underlying the need for better training of staff and closer collaboration between private enterprise and government bodies. He was speaking at the presentation of the sixth Paulino Buchens prize and the fourth Ibatur prize for tourist projects promoted by the Actilibre Foundation. The prizes went to José Manuel González for Allariz, a project of sustainable tourism development and Diana Lopez for Cultural Tourism in Palma. The late Paulino Buchens was a former Mayor of Palma and vice president of Grup Serra, the Bulletin's publishing group. Among those present at the ceremony were Pere A Serra, president of the Grup Serra, and Florencio Arran, president of the Actilibre Foundation.
