FIVE people in the Balearics were among the 121 arrests made yesterday in Spain's biggest ever operation against Internet child pornography.
Police carried out a series of raids on 210 homes across the country involving more than 800 officers after collaboration with Brazilian authorities in an operation which began last July.
Officers arrested three people in Palma, one in Alcudia and one in Minorca. An Interior Ministry statement said equipment containing millions of images had been seized.
The network allegedly swapped files, some showing images of an extreme and sickening nature involving minors, the ministry added.
Those arrested included pilots, bank clerks and taxi drivers and they ranged from old-age pensioners to minors. In two cases, suspects had abused their own family members.
