By Frank Leavers Mallorca Cricket Club members are already making arrangements and planning for their traditional Bonfire Night spectacular at the club ground in Magaluf on Wednesday 5th November. Last year the annual event attracted over 3'000 people, making it by far the largest single British (or any other!) expatriate community fiesta in the Balearics, and arguably in the whole of Spain.

With just under a month to go before the big day, the Cricket Club have announced a number of innovations to further enhance what has become a regular fixture in the social calendar of the island. To make sure that the thousands of people attending are kept entertained before and after the lighting of the bonfire and the spectacular twenty minute long firework display that follows, the cricket club has invited a local radio station to provide the Bonfire Night entertainment. This is the 14th year of the Bonfire Night at the Cricket Club and it goes from strength to strength. In its first year, just 150 people turned up at the club, however slowly but surely the expatriate community took the event to their hearts, and last years remarkable attendance figures was a huge compliment to the Mallorca Cricket Club and its members.
