TWO cadets at a police academy in Palma were injured yesterday when a firearm was accidentally triggered inside the building at Calle Alferez Ribas where they were receiving practical training.

An initial investigation revealed that the two recruits, for reasons yet to be made clear, were handling a firearm that was supposedly disabled. However, the gun suddenly fired off accidentally, injuring the two cadets.

Emergency Services, including the National and Local Police were called and paramedics attended the injured. One of the cadets had been wounded in the ear and the other had a bullet fragment lodged in his neck.

RESPONSIBILITY
Medical reports confirmed yesterday however, that no vital organs had been affected in either case, .
The National Police Homicide Squad is launching a full investigation into exactly what happened and who should be held responsible for the accident.
