GESA Gas has this week been carrying out general emergency drills at its gas plants in Cas Tresorer, Cala Millor and Portals-Bendinat.
The objective of this was to evaluate the response time for all the emergency services involved with responding to a gas incident. The simulated emergencies were carried out in Palma, Calvia, Son Servera and San Llorenc and, according to Gesa, complied with the requirements of the Plan for Interior Emergencies (PEI) for Gas Production Plants. Gesa Gas's own staff also took part in these exercises along with representatives from the various 112 Emergency department.
In addition to these there were representatives from the Inland Department, Local Police Force, Palma Fire Brigade, the Council of Majorca's Fire Brigade, and the Balearic Ministry of Commerce, Industry and Energy.
