THE National Police Serious Crime Squad has arrested three people for, amongst other crimes, armed robbery while impersonating members of the Guardia Civil. The three people, two men and a woman, were arrested after a complex investigation following the armed robbery of three women at a house in Bonanova.
The three suspects, all dressed in Guardia Civil uniforms, are said to have forced their way into the property under the guise of being members of the Guardia Civil and, once inside, threatened the three women with guns.
CASH
They managed to escape with over 1'500 euros in cash and various items of jewellery.
The women were warned not to call the police, the robbers claiming that the phones were tapped and that they were being closely watched.
However, the police were contacted and a laborious investigation mounted. Eventually, all of the items of jewellery were traced to a Palma jewellers who had paid 200 euros for the lot.
He has also been arrested for handling stolen goods.
When police searched the suspects' homes they recovered more items of jewellery, police uniforms, imitation weapons, police badges, a police siren, ammunition and handcuffs.
