PALMA
THE opposition centre right Partido Popular went on the attack yesterday calling for political “heads to roll” over the Balearic government's inability to restore order to the crisis-rocked Council of Majorca and demanded that the first head to roll is that of the regional President, Francesc Antich.

Since the Majorcan Unionist Party withdrew its support from the Socialist-led ruling coalition on the Council of Majorca ten days ago, the Partido Popular have been keeping distance from the crisis, preferring to watch how the split coalition resolves its internal problems.

However yesterday, after talks between PSIB Balearic Socialist Party leader of the Council of Majorca, Francina Armengol, and the leader of the Majorcan Unionist party on Wednesday achieved little with regards to resolving the political crisis, the PP accused Antich of losing lost control of the situation.

Partido Popular spokesperson, Carlos Simarro, said that Antich has shown that he is clearly incapable of handling a crisis.
