PALMA
EIGHT years after closing their operations in Spain and selling its retail sites to El Corte Inglés, Marks & Spencer has announced long term plans to return and “target the expatriate market”.

The current Executive Chairman of Marks & Spencer, Stuart Rose, said back in 2004 that closing its European outlets had been a big mistake and sources at Marks & Spencer in London yesterday confirmed to the Bulletin that it will be opening its first shop in Marbella in time for Christmas.

The store is going to be operated by its franchise partners York Limited which operates Marks & Spencer in Gibraltar.
It also has four franchises in the Canary Islands. “We've been working with York for the past 40 years. It's been a very successful partnership and have therefore decided to team up with them to open our Marbella branch.
