PALMA
A joint National and Local Police operation ended yesterday with the arrest of three dangerous Romanian criminals who have mounted at least four armed robberies in Palma and Manacor recently.

The arrests were made just hours after the three men held up a chemist near the Porti Pi shopping centre late on Wednesday night.
The three armed men stormed the chemist at 11.15pm, held the employees at gun point and then fled with 300 euros.
Moments after the three men left the chemist, one of the employees chased after them and it was then that one of the Romanians fired three shots in the air causing panic in the area. All of the National and Local police on duty at the time were placed on full alert and units began combing the city for the three armed suspects.

Eventually, at 3am, a plain clothed police patrol with Local Police back up located and arrested the three near the Agendas.
The Romanians are expected to be charged with the armed robbery of the Coll d'en Rebassa and Manacor gaming halls and a chemist in Es Pillari.
Last night, National and Local police chiefs praised their forces for their swift response and detention of the three highly dangerous criminals.
