THE outskirts of Palma are being tackled by the army and the municipal cleaning company, Emaya, to rid the area of an increased load of waste which has been dumped in the ditches and scrubs. The cleaning work started yesterday at the Coll de sa Creu area, which runs between the General Asensio military base, off the Soller road, and the outskirt of Palma. The army and Palma city council reached an agreement to rid this area and road of the unwanted rubbish and abandoned cars. The army has lent a group of soldiers to help and Emaya has provided huge rubbish containers.
