THE Balearic Ministry for Tourism has reached an agreement in principle with the French Association of Tour Agents (AFAT) for them to dedicate 2007 to the Balearics.
Although the agreement has yet to be finalised, it is planned to organise various events on the islands, among them AFAT's annual congress in May.
This will be a great promotional opportunity for us in the French market, said Balearic Government sources, and various activities will be organised. The agreement was made possible by a meeting in Paris between the director general of Tourist Promotion, Eduardo Gamero; the President of the French Travel Agents Association, Bernard Garcia; and the director attached to the Spanish Tourism Office in Paris, Miguel Nombela, according to the sources.
