Over one thousand parents, teachers and students gathered yesterday in front of the Balearic Education Department in Palma to show their support for the general strike against Prime Minister Mariano Rajoy’s education policies. Following last month’s protests against the new proposed TILtrilingual system in local schools and reports of yet more education budget cuts, angry parents, teachers and students took to the streets of the city again to show they are still in disagreement with the plan, although the turn out was far smaller than the near 100,000 who marched through Palma in protest against the TIL programme which is still being boycotted by most schools across the Balearics.
