PALMA is the only city in Spain to have raised its hotel prices this year, said hotel reservation web site hotel.info yesterday.
The rest of the country meanwhile has managed to put the brakes on plummeting room rates but these nevertheless remain below last year's levels. Room prices at hotels in Spain went up by nearly 2 percent during the third quarter of this year in comparison with the second. But when compared to the third quarter last year, the downturn stands at 12.1 percent. During the third quarter of this year, an overnight stay at a hotel in Spain cost an averge of 84.23 euros. At the other end of the scale, the increase in room prices at hotels in Palma has been what the web site described as exceptional because it is the only city in Spain where room rates have gone up since the beginning of the crisis.
