Balearic has one of the highest levels of delinquency in Spain

THE Balearic Islands is the region of Spain with the third highest number of homes (20.7 percent) which suffer from delinquency or vandalism in the surrounding residential area, reported the National Institute of Statistics (INE) yesterday.

The figure, said the INE is 5.3 percent above the national average of 15.4 percent. Only the regions of Valencia and Madrid have worse records than the Balearics, with problems of residential zone vandalism and delinquency standing at 21.9 and 23.3 percent respectively.

Areas where residential difficulties were far less noticeable were in the region of Asturias where only 6.2 percent of homes reported problems of vandalism in residential areas, followed by Navarre (6.6 percent) and La Rioja (7.8 percent).
