PALMA
STRONG winds continued to batter Majorca last night as shell-shocked residents battled against the elements to begin the big clean-up after Wednesday's freak storms.

Peter Vane Percy, of PVP Marine, in the Port of Andratx, described the damage as the “worst he had ever seen.” At least eight boats were complete write-offs and economically beyond repair, according to Peter.
He estimated that at least two to three million euros worth of damage had been done to the port area by the winds. “The port itself should be back to normal in a couple of days, but it will be a big job to move the wreckage of the boats that have been destroyed,” he added.
