.—Since the suspension of the indefinite strike action taken last month, teachers believe the authorities have not kept to their word and have done little to resolve the pending issues over trilingual teaching. The Balearic Teachers Assembly met yesterday and given the lack of progress in the negotiations, they are proposing going on strike again next week on 8, November, in Majorca and 11, November, in Ibiza, although there is yet no date confirmed for the Minorcan strike.

"While we were on strike last month, they asked us to return to work in order to start negotiating, but since we returned nothing has happened," teachers present in the assembly complained. Last month teachers all over the Balearics protested against the government’s proposal on how to implement the new TIL or tri lingual system, and the dates chosen for this month’s strike action are not a mere coincidence. On 8 Novembner mayors from different Majorcan councils are due to meet to discuss current issues including the TIL, while 11 November is the day on which the process to introduce TIL will be evaluated.

Meanwhile the parents of the students association has called for a massive protest against the TIL at the doors of local councils on 7 November.
