THE regional Ministry for Industry and Energy is to provide a grant of nearly a quarter of a million euros to Palma City Council so that the municipal bus company EMT can buy 12 new vehicles which run off natural gas. Minister Francesca Vives said yesterday that the move is to provide an urban transport service which is more energy efficient, adding that natural gas emits less CO2 than those running on diesel. Vives said that with vehicles running off two forms of power, if a problem emerges with one source, the whole fleet will not be affected.
