THE Consumer Price Index fell by 0.1 percent in the Balearics in October, while it rose by four tenths of a percentage point throughout Spain.
The interannual inflation figure for the Balearics is 2.6 percent.
By product and service groups, those which rose the most in the Balearics last month were clothes and shoes (4.9 percent), followed by education with a rise of 1.8 percent. However, the price of household goods remained stable. At the other end of the scale, the price of transport fell by 2.2 percent, the price of culture and leisure fell by 1.5 percent, the price of housing by 0.3 percent, the price of food and non alcoholic drinks by 0.2 percent and the price of communications by 0.1 percent. Total inflation during the first 10 months of the year was highest in housing, at 4.5 percent, followed by hotels, cafes and restaurants with 4.4 percent, and education with 4.2 percent. However, there were decreases in the price of clothes and shoes (4.4 percent less), culture and leisure (2.2 percent less) and communications (0.6 percent less).
