THE Council of Majorca will spend a million euros in the maintenance of the signs on Majorca's roads over the next two years.
This is one of the clauses included in the conditions for the awarding of the contract for this service, which has now been put out to tender.
The Council of Majorca has divided the roads network into two areas for the awarding of the contract.
The two areas are north and south, the dividing line being the old Sineu to Ariany road.
The investment planned for each area is 534'388 euros which will be divided into two yearly amounts.
The maintenance of the road signs consists of repainting, modifying and improving the existing road signs.
The Council of Majorca will award the contract for an initial two years, after which it will be renewable for another two years.
The Department of Public Works will award the contract after the tendering process, which ends on November 30.
The current state of the signs is acceptable according to a report by the Spanish Roads Association.
