THE Son Dureta Hospital yesterday started up a new home hospital service for residents in Majorca, who will now be able to receive healthcare at home.
This new service, which at the moment will only be able to attend a maximum of 15 patients, was presented yesterday by the Manager of Son Dureta, Carles Ricci. The home health team will consist of two doctors, five nurses and one social worker, who will decide if the patient has a health problem that can be adequately treated at home. If deemed necessary, patients will get a home visit in which the nurse will administer drugs and educated patients about health matters The team will be on hand 24 hours a day and everyday of the year, confirmed the Manager of Son Dureta. This initiative will help free up many beds which are needed because currently the hospital is full, Carles Ricci added.
