Europe begins CIA flight investigation

THE Council of Europe has started an investigation into alleged unauthorized flights via airports including Palma by the CIA used to move terror suspects to various “black sites” around the globe. Following recent allegations that the CIA has set up a worldwide network of “black sites” to interrogate terror suspects, a growing number of European countries are asking whether the United States has used their airspace for intelligence operations. Europe is also worried US has been engaging in controversial policies such as “extraordinary renditions” where suspects are abducted by US agents or others operating in concert with the US secret service and spirited away to third countries.
