FOR those heading to the mainland for some skiing over the Bank Holiday weekend, the weather is going to be perfect, for those staying in the Balearics, it is going to be cold, wet and windy. The long weekend, which for many starts with today's fiesta, is not going to get off to a bad start here in the islands, but an anti-cyclone is heading our way from Scandinavia and will bring rain, winds and the snow already falling on the mainland to the region tomorrow. Strong, polar winds from the north east are going to make conditions feel very cold in the Balearics and north east Spain on Friday, Saturday and Sunday. While snow is only forecast to fall up on the peaks of the Tramuntanta, heavy outbreaks or torrential rain and isolated storms are forecast for the weekend across the Balearics.
Friday
Snow above 1000 metres. Strong north easterly winds in north Majorca and Minorca.
Saturday
Snow above 1000 metres. Strong to gale force north easterly winds.
Sunday
More snow above 800 metres, isolated showers elsewhere. Temperatures steady but gale force winds will continue.
Monday
Back to work!
