PALMA will host the first International Furniture Convention in the Palma Hostelry School on May 23, 24 and 25, 2006.
The event will be organised by the European Federation of Manufacturers and nearly 65 percent of those present will be foreign manufacturers. The organisers of this first Convention have set themselves various targets. Among these targets are: promoting co-operation between companies on an international level, calling attention to the problems of this industry and giving information to those taking part about the latest developments in management and production. The President of the Balearic Wood and Cork Federation, Bernat Vicens, one of the promoters of the event, congratulated Palma for succeeding in their bid to host the Convention and remarked that it has taken us a year of negotiations to get it. In his words, one of the keys to Palma's success was the economic collaboration of the regional Ministry of Commerce, Industry and Energy.
