Palma.—The Russian Mafia boss arrested at his Peguera home along with his wife and six other people this week was apparently about to close a deal to spend between 12 and 15 million euros on another hotel in Calvia.
Alexander Romanov is suspected of being the head of the Taganskaya criminal group and the six arrested suspects, including two local lawyers, are accused of tax fraud, document falsification, influence peddling and membership of a criminal organisation.
Yesterday Romanov refused to make a statement to the Guardia Civil but all six will be appearing before a remand hearing in Palma today.
