FUEL accounts for up to 25 percent of the operating costs of road haulage companies in the Balearics.
Fuel costs represent between 12 and 25 percent of the total costs which have to be met by road haulage companies in the Balearics, according to a study in the islands commissioned by the Balearic Ministry of Public Works, Housing and Transport. According to the study, fixed costs for the road haulage companies (staff, depreciation of vehicles, financial expenses, insurance and tax expenses) represent between 70 and 85 percent of their total costs, with staff costing the most (between 40 and 70 percent). The cost of fuel is quite significant, being between 12 and 25 percent of the total, according to the study which has been agreed by the Transport Companies Federation and the Majorcan Transport Companies
Association (ASTAM-PIMEM) and the Majorcan Chamber of Commerce.
