THE region's small business sector is being encouraged to become more involved in the drive to boost quality tourism.
Balearic president Jaume Matas held talks with small business sector chief Francesc Horrach yesterday and stressed the need for more co-operation between all sectors of the small business sector including management, employees and the unions. Horrach, who raised the issue of all inclusive hotels, said that the meeting was constructive and positive.
He said that the small business sector can and will play an important role in establishing and promoting a new quality tourism model for Majorca which, in turn, will attract more select and wealthier tourists as instead of mass tourism. Horrach also revealed yesterday that Matas is planning to hold a meeting shortly with union bosses, directors and the island councils in order to discuss how they can all best work together in taking Majorca's new tourism model a step further. Matas also met the head of the Balearic Confederation of Business Associatioms, Josep Olver, yesterday to discuss how the business community in general thinks the tourosts industry performed this year.
