AMBULANCE workers have planned a demonstration on Saturday, as part of their build up to the strike which they have announced for January.
They will demonstrate outside the IB-Salut (the health service) headquarters and then march to the Plaza España, to continue their demo outside the health ministry. A union spokesman said that they would call off their protests over the festive period, and the strike would start on January 6.
He said it would consist of a strict work to rule and workers would put in only eight hours a day, not the 12 hours which they work at present.
The spokesman said that despite their protests and the announcement of the strike, the health authorities have made no effort to resume negotiations.
The strike is over poor working conditions.
