RESIDENTS in Muro, north Majorca, are complaining that it is now three months since the local water management company sent round a flyer warning people not to drink the tap water because recent analyses had shown it was too high in nitrates. They have been having to set aside household funds on purchasing mineral water for drinking, an expense which is eating noticeably further into family budgets. The company has responded to criticism saying a government department had ordered them to issue the warning and that the answer to the water problem is a desalination plant - they will have to wait for the necessary planning and construction approval before work can begin.
