Poor start to the sales season, but retailers still upbeat

Palma.—The first official Winter sales week of this year in Majorca, that started on 7 January, has been disappointing for the majority of local businesses, according to reports published yesterday.
After the first week of “official” sales, retailers around the island revealed their disappointment at how things are going, confirming sales have so far been bellow expectations. For Pimeco, the Majorcan association of  small and medium businesses, the situation is not alarming since trading laws have  changed from previous years.
