Palma.—Majorca has a starring role in a new BBC TV series which is very much licenced to thrill – as it lifts the lid on the alleged sordid private life of Ian Fleming, creator of James Bond.
“Fleming – The Man Who Would Be Bond” stars Lara Pulver as the author’s wife, Ann, seen as the archetype of all 007’s females.
And the actress has told of her unusual preparations for swimming underwater for the snorkelling scenes in the four-part mini-series, which were shot is seas off the island.
Although she had been able to practice on the surface, the scene called for her to be six or seven feet down - and she has always had a fear of going underwater.
