Palma.—Tomas Harris, the British super spy, died in a traffic accident in Majorca fifty years ago this week but it was only much later that his role in Britain´s most successful World War 2 intelligence operation, was disclosed. Harris died under suspicious circumstances, his car went off the road near Lluchmajor. I have spoken to people who knew Harris when he lived on the island, at Camp de Mar, but they have dismissed claims that he died in myserious circumstances. Infact, one person told me that he was driving a new car with a sophisticated suspension system and this has been cited as the cause of the crash. But there will always be something mysterious about Harris, whose father was British and his mother Spanish.
