Palma.— Balearic ports handled over 5.8 million passengers last year with an 18 percent increase in the number of cruise passengers and an 11 percent rise in the number of ferry passengers.
Yesterday, the Balearic Port Authority reported that the region handled over 1.5 million cruise passengers on board 699 liners, 11 percent more than in 2012 and consolidating the region’s position as one of the most popular cruise destinations in the World.
The busiest Balearic port was obviously Palma which handled 1.2 million passengers, 27 percent more than during 2012 although the port which registered the sharpest increase was Mahon.
