The Balearic government announced yesterday that leading Majorcan businessman and the founder of the Grupo Iberostar travel organisation, the headquarters of which is still in Palma, is to be awarded the Balearic Gold Medal in recognition of his services to the local economy, employment, society and more importantly tourism.
