International cycling route still in doubt

Following a series of cycling meetings and conventions in Spain, Brussels and throughout Europe, Spain’s Environment departments have agreed to take charge of the cycling project Eurovelo.

Palma.—EuroVelo, an European cycle route network connecting several countries, has three routes that currently pass  through Spain but not through the Balearics. The problem is that to apply to be part of Eurovelo a lengthy application process is necessary and the lack of an  organisation in Spain, one of the few countries in Europe without a main cycling governing body is delaying the approval of the project, which could see the Balearics miss out on a potential profitable deal.
