Llucmajor to have new bins

Llucmajor council is on the verge of following Palma’s and Santanyi’s councils lead and replace the local rubbish collection bins by new ones, proven to be more efficient and economical. If the contract for the new bilateral bins is approved, 182 of the existing ones would be removed from the streets. They have a maximum capacity for 1,100 kilos of rubbish compared with the 2,250, 3000 and 3,750 kilos of capacity of the new ones. That would mean only 480 would be needed to replace the existing 762. The new bins have a modern design, with a closed lid that opens with a pedal, hence more hygienic, and are impossible to move which would prevent the spillage of rubbish.
