Palma.—Majorca was yesterday hit by a wave of storms and heavy rainfall leading some areas of the region to raise the yellow alert for the next few days.
Some 1,716 lightning bolts were seen in the skies while Son Torrella was hit with heavy rains amounting to 23 litres of water per square metre.
Strong winds up to 72 kilometres per hour were also recorded at the Dique del Oeste in Palma.
Authorities raised the yellow alert which should stay active today as well, even though no major incidents have been recorded so far, not even any sort of disruption to traffic.
The current situation contrasts with the previous week (Easter) with the Weather State Agency revealing yesterday in a report that Easter week was the hottest in Palma since 1981.
