WELL you have been warned. Palma City Council have decided to get tough and try and cure the city of many of its ills. Fines will be dished out for anything from riding a bicycle on the pavement to throwing rubbish on the ground.
The council have denied that it is just a new measure to raise money and have said that they have been working on their new “good citizen plan” for two years.

Most of the proposals will be welcomed by the people of the city. Finally, tourists are going to be asked to cover-up away from the beach-side and if they don´t they risk a fine of 50 euros. This has been one of the chief complaints from city residents for many years. Some bars and restaurants refuse to serve holidaymakers who are not properly dressed. The days of German tourists sipping a lethal mix of alcohol from a bucket through a straw are numbered. The council have now banned buckets from the beach along with glass bottles. Even cyclists who use the pavement face a fine.
