I do think that everyone is being rather harsh on England´s performance against Uruguay on Thursday night. Spanish television commentators were once again praising Roy Hodgson´s young squad and even claimed that they could be future winners. Now, Spanish TV pundits are no fans of the English game and they have been highly criticial of England teams of the past. I thought that overall England played well against Uruguay;there were some great moments and of course some big defensive errors. But they didn´t deserve to be defeated by Uruguay or even Italy. Roy Hodgson has shown plenty of coverage taking a very young team to the World Cup. These are players who do not play Champions League football so their experience against international sides is limited. The easy option would be for Roy to have taken the old guard and played them. But he didn´t. Frank Lampard was kept on the bench, Ashley Cole stayed at home. It is said that no-one wants the England manager’s job, Ican see why. England must stick with Roy Hodgson and allow him time to work with his young squad. Thankfully Liverpool are in Europe next season and hopefully the England players at Anfield will be allowed to play and mature. So lets be positive. England have under performed at every World Cup since I can remember. The same people who are now criticising the England team of 2014 have been in the same position. So let Roy do his job.
