Calvia.—Calvia Council has announced plans to build a new pedestrian path connecting Magalluf and Cala Viñas.
The pedestrian path to be built between El Greco street in Magalluf and Rosa street, belonging to Cala Viñas will cost in the region of 170,000 euros.
The one metre and a half wide pedestrian path project, designed by engineer Bartolome Calafat, will include removing the existing old pavement and clear all the surrounding area from any excess vegetation.
The pavement will be completely tiled and separated from the wasteland next to it by a one metre high metal fence.
Senior members of the local council expressed their satisfaction with the way the project is developing, since it was one of the main demands from local residents, who up until now faced serious health and safety hazards if they wished to get from one municipality to the other. Those who were brave enough to do so had to walk alongside the road, with little or no protection from oncoming vehicles.
