I know its seems like a long time ago but a few months back we were campaigning for more winter tourists. Looking at the state of the summer season  at the moment perhaps we should start campaigning for more summer tourists as well, but that is enough story! But there is some good news on the winter tourism front. The Hotel Sis Pins in Puerto Pollensa will  stay open again this winter and this week they have signed a contract with British tour firm Cosmos which will be bringing tourists to the island during the winter months.  This is fantastic news both for Pollensa and M;ajorca. A winter holiday programme will mean more winter flights and Cosmos will be linking Palma with flights from Manchester and London. So the seeds which were sown last winter are starting to grow. The Monarch/Cosmos Group agrees that there is demand for a winter programme to the island. I sincerely wish that other tour firms would take note and follow their lead. And also, once again, full marks to the Hotel Sis Pins which is showing the way forward.  If the summer season proves poor then we are going to need more winter tourists. The Balearic Government is talking about a major sea change in tourism to the island. They have given their full support for plans to take Magalluf up-market, I wish they would support all efforts on the winter tourism front as well. If Majorca could become an all year round holiday destination, the local economy would benefit dramatically and more jobs would be created.
