Palma.—Palma City Council has come under attack again from the opposition Socialist party for apparently failing to honour its pledge to maintain law and order in the Playa de Palma.
According to the socialists, the new Good Citizen plan, which is supposed to be in force in the resort while the rest of the municipality under goes an awareness campaign ahead of its full introduction at the end of the summer, is not working.
They claim that the Playa de Palma continues to be a mess and want to see cleaning services stepped up, especially on the beach at night, more police on the beat, a continuous crack down on the illegal street traders and con artists, a campaign launched to cull alcohol abuse and have the Local Police station open 24 hours a day so complaints can be lodged and incidents reported round the clock so the police can take immediate and effective action.
