The Spanish Tax Office will open a six month “amnesty” period so that senior citizens who receive a pension from abroad while living in Spain can “legalise” their tax situation.

The announcement came yesterday after the Spanish Government changed their tax rules.
A Tax Office spokesperson said; “over the last few years we have been made aware of the fact that a number of senior citizens are receiving a pension from abroad while living in Spain but are failing to declare it to the tax authorities. We know that we are not talking about large sums of money so for this reason we have introduced a six month “amnesty peirod.” Senior citizens will be to resolve their tax situation without any fear of fine or other sanction during this period. This period starts in January 2015.”
