Balearic families bring out the calculators as “return to school” looms

These are troubled times for many Balearic families. With school  about to start again, eight out of ten families with children under the age of 18 admitted they are struggling to make ends meet and pay for school material and education fees.
According to a study revealed yesterday, the cost of putting a child through public school in the region last year  amounted to 670 euros, 1,080 through a state school and 1,530 through to a private school.
Eight out of ten families said they were worried about how they will face the costs this year, the highest percentage in the country alongside La Rioja.
