Palma.—The President of the Balearics, Jose Ramon Bauza, appears to have an internal political fight on his hands after announcing last week that he does not intend to put the current Mayor of Palma, Mateo Isern, forward again as the PP’s candidate for mayor at next year’s local elections.
The two men were once very close political allies in the party, but personal issues appear to have ruined their friendship and the two are hardly on talking terms.
Last week, Isern said that, should the party find a better and more adequate candidate then, for the good of the Partido Popular, he would support the new candidate.
However, this week, the vast majority of PP councillors in Palma have voiced their full backing for Isern and that puts Bauza in a delicate position.
