The Mayor of Marratxi, Tomeu Oliver, yesterday appointed Bernat Marti as the new chief of the local police force after the resignation of Antoni Ledesma who was last week arrested for his alleged involvement in the Calvia extortion investigation.
Ledesma resigned on the grounds of protecting the municipality’s “good image.”
Oliver yesterday expressed his “total support and confidence in the local police force, adding that he is “very proud” of the work the force carries out and will defend the force against any criticism.
